Samsung puts spotlight on wireless charging for Galaxy S6

The launching of Samsung’s next big phone is just a week away and people are eager to know what the Samsung Galaxy S6 has to offer. The Korean company has given hints about the specs of their new product, one of which is the ‘amazing new camera’ that is set to provide a new level of photographing prowess.

But the feature that immediately caught the attention of interested consumers is that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6 will support wireless charging. The hint was posted on Samsung’s website wherein it presents the value of wireless charging. And the post ended with the statement, “With our upcoming Galaxy smartphones, users will be able to enter a new wireless world like never before.”

Seho Park, a member of Samsung's engineering group, has highlighted a brief account of wireless charging, stating on the company’s contributions to its development. "We have been able to cut the costs of the main components to one-tenth of the price in just 10 years," says Park.

There have been many speculations from the consumers regarding this new feature, the latest of which suggests that the upcoming smartphone will come with a sealed body and a smaller battery. The rumor also claims the battery will not be user replaceable.

Another concern includes uncertainty about whether the device will match charging stations in different locations. Samsung addressed this concern by saying that "last year, components that support multiple standards on a single chip were released [and] it is expected that several of these products will be available to consumers this year."

Samsung is scheduled to reveal the Galaxy S6 at its Unpacked event at Mobile World Congress on March 1st.
