Dragon Boat

Dragon Boat

It is a human-powered watercraft.
Traditionally it was made in China. Different kinds of woods in used to make this traditional water craft. It is one of a family paddled long-boat found in Asia, Pacific Islands and Africa. But currently these boats are made of lightweight materials for competitive purposes.

Races of dragon boats are held annually in many areas of East Asia. Traditionally this race is known as Duanwu.
International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF) organizes the dragon boat racing at an international level.
Hong Kong Dragon Boat Association made the Guinness world record on 30th December 2011 in Greatest Distance by Dragon Boat in 24 hours (relay) - 227 km.
Whereas, training is also needed in this game. Specially abdomen, arms
, neck, hips, chest, shoulders and back are properly exercised.

Well apart from the exercises this dragon boat racing is liked by people all around the world.
The folk custom has been held for more than 2,000 years in southern China and now it is an international sport.
The boat is decorated in Chinese dragon shape. It’s about 20–35 meters in length, and it needs 30–60 people to paddle it.
In each boat there is a drummer in front of the boat.
To me it's really a great idea to visit China in the China dragon boat festival to see their traditional sport in real.
